General Data Protection Regulation

 

The Provincial Public Library in Krakow attaches importance to the security of processed data, including in the scope of maintaining the confidentiality of personal data. We want each of you to know how we process them. That is why we have created a Privacy Policy that describes how we protect and process personal data. 

 

Who is the personal data Administrator? 

If you are our reader, you use our public services or websites in any way, we would like to inform you that the administrator of your data is the Provincial Public Library in Krakow, ul. Rajska 1, Kraków. 

 

Inspector for Personal Data Protection 

In order to ensure that your data will always be processed faithfully, in a transparent and lawful manner, we have appointed an Inspector for Personal Data Protection.

Who has access to your data? 

Your personal data is never transferred, sold or exchanged for marketing purposes. The data provided to third parties is used only to provide you with our public services or to fulfil our statutory obligations, i.e. to protect the collection. 

We store the personal data collected in the European Economic Area. As the administrator of your personal data, the Provincial Public Library in Krakow provides an adequate level of data protection in IT systems by implementing and applying technical and organisational measures that ensure the protection of data against unauthorised processing. 

 

Is there a requirement to provide data? 

Providing personal data is always voluntary, but failure to provide data marked as necessary to provide services to you will prevent their provision. 

 

What are the legal grounds for data processing and the purpose of data processing? 

The purpose of data processing is the implementation of public services provided by the Library. The legal basis for the processing of personal data is the Act on Libraries and the Act on public statistics, as well as the implementing provisions. 

 

What is the processing time of personal data? 

Your data will be processed for the period resulting from the Act on National Archival Resources and Archives, in accordance with the uniform material list of files. 

 

What are your rights? 

In connection with the processing of personal data by the Provincial Public Library in Krakow, you can contact us regarding: 

- providing information about the processed data, 

- issuing a copy of the processed data, 

- prompt rectification of incorrect data, 

- supplementing incomplete personal data, 

- limiting the processing of data in case of questioning their accuracy, 

- prompt deletion of data unduly processed, 

- transfer of data to another administrator in a commonly used, machine-readable format, when the processing of data is based on consent or contract and is carried out in an automated manner. 

You can object to the processing of your personal data. In this case, we will no longer be allowed to process this data, unless we can demonstrate the existence of legally valid legitimate grounds for processing, overriding the interests, rights and freedoms of the data subject, or the grounds for establishing, investigating or defending claims. In order to exercise the above rights, please contact the administrator or the Data Protection Inspector in writing. 

 

Right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority: 

You also have the right to submit a complaint to the Chairman of the Office for Personal Data Protection, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw if, in your opinion, the processing of personal data violates the provisions of the EU GDPR Regulation.
